Modern European House Tour Home Bunch Interior Design Ideas

modern european house design

These design elements contribute to the overall comfort, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of these homes. Inspired by high modernist European architects like Le Corbusier and Ludwig Meis van der Rohe, the midcentury modern movement in American houses began in the 1940s and became extremely popular. Common features include minimalist design with no ornamentation, single-story construction, large picture windows, flat roofs, and an attempt to blend the natural surroundings into the home’s design. Interiors usually have open layouts with few walls separating the space, allowing rooms to blend into one another. Located in Orono, Minnesota, this Modern European-inspired home features modern architecture with novel finishes and furnishings that make this home truly refreshing and timeless.

Emphasis on functionality and comfort

It’s about finding a look and style that feels inviting and comfortable to you, not obeying an arbitrary set of design rules. The use of natural materials, such as wood and stone, creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. Large windows and high ceilings provide ample natural light and a sense of openness, contributing to the overall well-being of the occupants. Additionally, the integration of outdoor spaces, such as patios and balconies, extends the living area and provides opportunities for relaxation and enjoyment of the outdoors. High ceilings add to the feeling of spaciousness and grandeur in modern European homes.

Some common features of brownstones include a short flight of stairs leading up to the entrance, cast-iron railings, high ceilings, and bay windows. French Country style homes, another popular European house plan, feature hipped roofs, curved arches, and detailed stone or brickwork. They often have large, tall windows, including tower-like structures and balconies. The nice aspect of modern European design is that it incorporates the “modern” component too. You aren’t tied to sticking with the individual designated spaces seen in older European design. You could easily go a more contemporary route with an open floor plan and add Modern European design elements to ensure the home still feels consistent and authentic to your design philosophy.

Some common elements of a Mediterranean home include terracotta tile roofs, wrought iron balconies, arched doorways, and stone accents. Inside, you’ll usually find exposed ceiling beams, mosaic tiles, plaster accents, and a warm color palette that never goes out of style. With design elements from the British arts and crafts movement of the late 19th century, craftsman-style homes became extremely popular in the early 20th century.

The main level outdoor terrace offers an entertainment area with a large gathering table, outdoor grill, bar and pizza oven. The spectacular backyard features a large pool and many other distinctive outdoor areas. A custom fireplace with limestone surroundings and cast-iron fireballs add modern drama to this Great Room. Discounts are only applied to plans, not to Cost-to-Build Reports, plan options and optional foundations and some of our designers don't allow us to discount their plans. These elements combine to create modern European homes that are both visually striking and highly livable.

Modern European House Plans are renowned for their expansive windows that flood the interiors with natural light. These windows, often floor-to-ceiling in height and stretching across entire walls, provide unobstructed views of the surrounding landscape and create a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. The abundance of natural light not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of these homes but also offers numerous functional and environmental benefits. The postmodernist movement was a philosophical and artistic movement in the 1980s that questioned traditional modernist ideals and employed irony in home design. Postmodern homes might borrow elements from Spanish, midcentury modern, or even Victorian elements into one house. Some features of postmodern houses include eclectic designs, open floor plans, quirky decorative elements, and a bold color palette.

Cape Cod style homes were very common with early American settlers due to their relative ease of construction and simplicity. They generally feature a single-pitched steep roof and a front door in the center with rows of windows on either side, shingle or clapboard siding, and minimal decorative elements. This home architecture is straightforward and cost-effective in design and construction, making it appealing to homeowners nationwide.

European house plans are a style of home plan that doesn’t have any specific traits. Our European floor plans are not like Modern, Courtyard, or Southwestern-style house plans, which have very specific features. Because this is one of Dan’s favorite styles to create, we are sure you will find a European house design that meets your needs.

Check out our California style house plans and contact our support team with any questions. Queen Anne style homes are a type of Victorian home that is even more ornate than a typical, earlier era Victorian. If your building department requires one, they will only accept a stamp from a professional licensed in the state where you plan to build. In this case, you will need to take your house plans to a local engineer or architect for review and stamping. In addition, plans which are used to construct homes in Nevada are required to be drawn by a licensed Nevada architect. In some regions, there is a second step you will need to take to ensure your house plans are in compliance with local codes.

They not only enhance the aesthetic appeal and functionality of these homes but also promote the well-being of their occupants and contribute to a more sustainable and environmentally conscious lifestyle. Moreover, expansive windows offer stunning views of the surrounding environment, transforming the home into a place of tranquility and connection to nature. Whether overlooking a lush garden, a serene lake, or a bustling city skyline, the windows in modern European homes frame the landscape as a living artwork, bringing the beauty of the outdoors into the living spaces. Inspired by the architecture of Spain, Spanish-style homes generally have low-slung roofs, terracotta roof tiles, and white plaster walls. Popularized by Frank Lloyd Wright, prairie-style houses are known for their distinctive horizontal layout. Some common features of the prairie style include low-hipped roofs, large windows, central chimney, and a rectangular shape.

Institutions reported most often using AI to review transcripts and recommendation letters. Many of them stated that they used it to review personal essays as well, with some going as far as to conduct preliminary interviews with applicants using AI. At the start of 2023, SPR asked organizations to send in pitches on how to better the local community, with the winner getting $50,000 in honor of the company’s 50th anniversary. The criteria were broad—SPR received pitches on topics as diverse as drones and deforestation—but the firm ultimately chose SAIC because it “fit best with our mission” of boosting the local community, according to Steven Devoe, SPR’s data specialty director. The sequence of electives can take many forms to suit the individual needs of the adult learner, emphasizing personal enrichment, preparation for further study, and more. He added other higher education institutions have begun reaching out to ask for similar tools or models that could be used for other purposes, such as predicting the likelihood of students dropping out in their first academic term. If, for example, the art school determines that students from a specific country do not have a high likelihood of accepting an offer from SAIC, its officials may spend less marketing in that country. It also helps with planning for class size and sections, with SAIC officials having a more accurate outlook on which students are likely to end up on campus.

While he enjoyed commercial construction, what he really wanted was to found and run his own company. In the final gallery of the exhibition, Gibson immerses viewers in a multi-channel video installation, She Never Dances Alone (2020), a work initially shown in New York’s Times Square. Here, the video is projected simultaneously across nine screens and features artist and dancer Sarah Ortegon HighWalking (enrolled Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho) performing the Jingle Dress Dance, a powwow dance originating with the Ojibwe tribe. The centuries-old dance is traditionally performed by women to call upon ancestors for strength, protection, and healing.

We have now truly experienced the difference between working with an "artist", who is passionate about his work vs working with a home designer that has merely learned a computer drafting program. Conor Gibson was born and raised in Natchez, MS. He graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture from the College of Architecture, Art, and Design at Mississippi State University. He moved to New Orleans in 2008 and started working for a large Design Build commercial firm. After 10 years of commercial architecture and designing and building his personal home, he decided to transition into residential architecture where his newfound passion lies. He is a Registered Architect and Licensed Residential General Contractor.

I’ve known Brent for years...there’s not much to say other than he is literally the BEST architect in Edmond. Not just because of obvious skill (he does all the best homes) but also because of who he is. Working with Brent and Shane has allowed us to dream up what our style and desires will look and function like in our new home. Your purchases also help protect forests, including trees traditionally used to make instruments. In any format, UI/UX design is not merely a final pass on an existing product to “pretty it up.” It is a deep and critical examination of how a design works and how the process of engaging with it will facilitate or frustrate the desires of the end users.

What services does GARY GIBSON INTERIOR DESIGN provide?

I found those conversations, even when very short, to be extremely helpful in staying calm during the build process. Andrea holds a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from the University of Maryland and a minor in textiles and urban sociology. She has studied landscape architecture, also at the University of Maryland. She loves living in Central Virginia and always has a Scottish Terrier running under her feet.

Completing this exquisite package is a vintage-inspired brown and pink 50s-style Lifton™ hardshell case. We are proud of the work we have done over the years and we like to show it off. From logos to lanyards, websites to wine labels, print to promotional products, and business cards to brands, we take your needs and combine them with our ideas to create marketing products you will be proud of too. The space in which to place me considers Indigenous histories within an American and international context, expanding upon the varied materials and forms that Gibson has employed over the past two decades. The title references Oglala Lakota poet Layli Long Soldier’s Ȟe Sápa, a poem whose geometric shape parallels Jeffrey Gibson’s meditation on the physicality of belonging.

‘Few artists working today are so expert in engaging our hearts and our collective conscience. Operating within and beyond the constructs of the contemporary canon, Jeffrey proposes alternate worlds that embrace our shared humanity and create space for joy while acknowledging hardship,’ shares Winograd. Brent Gibson and his team were very professional, punctual, courteus, and organized. They went above and beyond with making sure I was happy with our project. John Dana Gibson, principal of Gibson Design, is a branding and marketing communications professional with significant experience in brand identity design, messaging development, and marketing channel strategy.

Discover the unique charm of this ES-335 with its “Custom Made” plaque and Bigsby®, a guitar brimming with character that beckons for daily play. For more than fifteen years, Gibson Design Group, Inc. has proven itself time and time again as a firm that can handle any job, large or small, and do so with a great flair and within budget. On the web, a good user experience is even more critical, as website visitors are notoriously ready to move on to other sites or various distractions that the internet has to offer.

Like many of Gibson’s figures, they are intentionally indeterminate; their beaded skin and intricate hair cannot be ascribed to any one specific culture or aesthetic. The busts also blur the boundaries between historical eras—integrated among the swirling beads are vintage pinback buttons with the language of advocacy groups and organizers, such as the slogan ‘If we settle for what they’re giving us, we deserve what we get! Surrounding the busts are related works on paper and large-scale paintings, including THE RETURNED MALE STUDENT FAR TOO FREQUENTLY GOES BACK TO THE RESERVATION AND FALLS INTO THE OLD CUSTOM OF LETTING HIS HAIR GROW LONG (2024).

The Story of Dorothy: Jared James Nichols’ 1952 Les Paul Goldtop

Gibson sourced examples of traditional Native beadwork, which includes bags, belts, and medallions from websites and estate and garage sales. Applying them first to a felt base and then to painted cotton rag paper, the objects are attached to the surface of the paintings with care and kept intact in their original form. In the next gallery, Gibson’s enduring exploration of hybridity takes a new form with I’M A NATURAL MAN (2024), Be Some Body (2024), and Treat Me Right (2024), three busts elevated to eye level on marble bases.

Presenting your information in an accessible and easily consumable fashion, both on individual pages as well as from an overall information architecture standpoint is critical to designing an effective, engaging website. We bring a passion for user interface and user experience design to all of our work. The Ebony Block Vibrola tailpiece distinguishes the 1962 Les Paul SG Custom, a feature specific to that year’s SG™ Standards and Customs, marking a distinct moment in Gibson’s history. This Gibson Custom model, enhanced with Murphy Lab Light Aging, boasts gold-plated hardware, a “Les Paul Custom” truss rod cover, Grover® tuners, and three unpotted Custombucker pickups, offering a perfect mix of historical detail and premium quality. Guaranteed to turn heads, other features of the 1959 ES-355 Reissue, Diamond F-Holes model include a luxurious ebony fretboard graced with mother-of-pearl block inlays and 22 medium jumbo frets.

Soule’ Gibson, founder and president of the firm, began his building career working for a large commercial contractor. After seven years working hands on in commercial construction, he returned to Michigan State University to finish his degree in building construction management. Even before graduation, Gibson was offered a position with Barton Malowe, one of Michigan’s largest and most respected construction companies, as an assistant superintendent. Recognized for his past experience and working knowledge of the business, Gibson was immediately added to the management team in charge of a $13 million project to renovate Warren Fitzgerald schools. Many in his shoes would have felt a great sense of accomplishment for having completed such a complicated project.

The Potter Daniels Manor, the English Tudor Revival–style residence that hosted the 1975 and 1996 showcase houses, has been reimagined with 30 new interior and exterior spaces for the 2024 edition, which is now open until May 19. The creative studio recently unveiled the BMW M Hybrid V8 race car at the 24 Hours of Daytona. This vehicle brings together classic details and the modern technology needed for a successful race. Its special paint job is reminiscent of classic race cars from the past five decades, blending together the past and present of motorsport history. Both institutions will decide what exhibitions will travel to Las Vegas in a process expected to unfold organically as the collaboration develops, Govan and Harmon say. Because the museums are relatively close in proximity, Govan hopes the shows can travel in electric vehicles to reduce the carbon footprint of the exchange.

“It was one of my favorite rooms in the house because it was the one that had the most history preserved, and I wanted to really celebrate that,” she told AD PRO. For her Foyer of Enchantment, Scheff installed a custom mural by Hattas Art Studios, a John Richard chandelier dripping with glass leaves, a silk wall covering by Aux Abris, and organic furniture created with Amorph Studio. Maria Videla-Juniel, who designed the primary bathroom of the main house, also devised a welcoming entry to the Gate House. A Thibault wall covering graces the entry, and a Fibreworks runner leads guests up the stairs. “I’m all about gardens connecting the architecture into the landscape,” landscape architect Timothy John Palcic tells AD PRO.

WHERE PEOPLE WORK (

Following its 50th anniversary, creative studio and BMW Group subsidiary Designworks opens a new workspace in Santa Monica, the ‘Silicon Beach’ of California. To help shape the future of mobility Designworks will take inspiration from this creative tech hub to provide services for both the BMW Group and other industries in the fields of mobility, transportation, consumer electronics, and charging infrastructure. As both a design studio and creative think-tank, Designworks will tap into global trends while presenting innovative and sustainable design solutions across the automotive and tech industries.

A moody House of Hackney floral wall covering lines the dressing area, which leads to a powder room accented with a Kelly Wearstler’s Graffito II from Walnut Wallpaper. A black-and-white triangular mosaic tile floor by Artistic Tile from Mission Tile West puts a contemporary twist on the classic checkered pattern. As the Pasadena Showcase House of Design enters its 59th year, it’s returning to a familiar setting.

With contemporary looks and cutting-edge finishes, create a space that launches you into your passions and showcases your personal style. Hand-beaded light fixtures illuminate the seating areas, which feature tables and chairs from Janus et Cie’s Amalfi Coast outdoor collection. Govan and Wynn Resorts co-founder Elaine Wynn sit on both the Vegas museum and LACMA boards. Govan does not expect any conflicts of interest to arise, and points out that many arts leaders occupy multiple board seats across the city and the country. Wynn, who is a LACMA board co-chair, has already given LACMA $50 million — one of the largest single gifts in LACMA’s history — Govan notes, adding that he doesn’t know how much more the L.A.

Cozy Stylish Chic Creative Director Jeanne K. Chung and designers Angela Lee and Caroline Meloche brightened the dark wood-paneled library to create a space where residents can unplug. “Our two main goals were to create a space that was comfortable and a little bit updated while also retaining that history and not touching or harming all the really cool features that were innate to the room and came with the house,” Meloche says. Wallpaper was added to the ceiling and the backs of the bookcases, and heavy wood blinds were replaced with soft draperies and Roman shades to make the space feel lighter. The firm used a mix of fabrics and wall coverings by Ralph Lauren Home from Designers Guild throughout the space. Designers Frank Slesinski and Serena Brosio collaborated on the charming living room in the Gatehouse. “One of the main things we did was add a window seat, which looks like it should always have been here,” Slesinski says.

We have a large bandwidth of disciplines and a unique ability to bring them all together into solid solutions that improve the world around us, for the better. Our motivation and inspiration is consistently fuelled by the Californian openness to disruption, innovation and bold ideas. Designer Ashleigh Miranda focused on juxtaposing technology and earthy elements in her moody media room. “I really wanted to showcase state-of-the-art technology but in a way that was grounded and spoke to our primitive nature.” Cutting-edge tech from Bang & Olufsen, Lutron, and JoshAI is balanced by curvaceous seating and unique art. Designer Lara Hovanessian packed plenty of bold design elements into the powder room and adjacent lounge.

The designers worked with a color palette of Dunn-Edwards paints, and several chose to highlight the brand’s 2024 Color of the Year, a steely blue called Skipping Stones. Nods to Pasadena’s famous peacocks can be found throughout the designs, and many creators fearlessly brought in statement floors, enveloped their spaces with jewel tones, and added texture to ceilings. Others focused on bringing the beauty of the estate’s gardens and views inside with verdant murals, floral fabrics, and nature-inspired lighting. “I really feel like the dining room is a forgotten room,” says the designer, who set out to prove how vital the space is to a home. The room is anchored by a Riva 1920 table made with the wood of a 50,000-year-old Kauri tree, which Levine surrounded with seating for 12.

Another seating area with views of the garden was designed for more intimate dining, games, or meetings, and it’s illuminated by a Murano glass chandelier. At the far end of the room, Levine installed a lush purple sofa with cocktail tables, creating the perfect spot for drinks, dessert, or relaxing with a cup of coffee. An office space in the Gatehouse is now a soothing spa-inspired lounge designed by Margaret Lalikian. The designer referenced the house’s original name, El Robles—Spanish for oak tree—with a tree-filled landscape mural by Arpy Dabbaghian. “For the wall mural, I had to pick something to bring them into nature and a calming environment,” Lalikian says. Maria Videla-Juniel turned the primary bath into a sumptuous retreat with hues of soft blue and brown.

Sanicola and Monique Wood installed Caesarstone countertops fabricated by Carlito’s Way Stone to create a functional space for outdoor entertaining. As one of the country’s oldest house and garden tours, the Pasadena Showcase House of Design benefits the Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts, an all-volunteer organization that contributes to arts and music nonprofits in Southern California. The event draws more than 25,000 guests each year and offers several dining spaces, including Roe Japanese Fusion, the Tudor Rose Bistro, and Wattle & Daub Tavern. The Shops at the Showcase offer an array of merchants, from handmade jewelry to artisanal chocolates, and are also home to the Shops’s Wine & Cheese Bar.

“Women Defining Women in Contemporary Art of the Middle East and Beyond,” “Kimono for a Modern Age,” the museum’s Robert Mapplethorpe collection or its collection of California photography could go. In addition to its work for BMW, Designworks collaborates with external clients from other sectors in order to gain an ‘outside-in’ perspective. This allows the company to develop a user-centric approach, as well as two innovative seat studies for the BMW brand that combine sustainability and visionary design.

In an interview with The Times, Govan emphasized that continual expansion along Wilshire Boulevard would yield diminishing returns. LACMA is instead developing a “strategic plan of regional partnerships” with museums — large and small — in order to pull more of its collection out of storage, and make it accessible to as many people as possible. We welcome people of all skill levels to classes and community events in our 7,000 sq ft workshop and creative space, located in downtown Los Angeles. Designer Stephanie Hatten updated the Gatehouse Kitchen, turning it into an airy English-country-inspired space. An eye-catching natural stone by Walker Zanger was selected for the counters and backsplash, and the space was outfitted with the latest Monogram appliances. Native California wildflowers accent the Arroyo Vista Garden, which was designed with fire safety in mind.

Thibaut wall coverings and fabrics were used for the walls and windows, and the elegant shagreen-covered vanities are accented with gleaming fixtures by P.E. Videla-Juniel and project manager Cheryl Hardy also installed a striking shower clad in herringbone stone tile. A palette of whites, deep blues, and gold creates an elegant atmosphere in the formal living room, which was designed by Rachel Duarte.

Designworks is also working with start-ups to experiment with new production methods and sustainable, recyclable materials to create a high-quality look and feel with improved durability. For Govan, the collaboration with Las Vegas Museum of Art is the natural next step in his 21st century-museum paradigm shift. In addition, Govan says plans to open a museum in South Los Angeles, which stalled out during the pandemic, are slowly getting back on track. Road House 2024 film Wikipedia

road house release date

In the years since its release, however, "Road House" has become revered as a staple of the era as fans young and old continue to revel in its absurdist B-movie charms, with studio bosses no doubt looking to capitalize on its enduring popularity. At present, there aren't many concrete details surrounding the "Road House" reboot, but a few juicy nuggets are being dangled about the project. Doug Liman directs Road House (2024), with a talented cast that includes Jake Gyllenhaal portraying Elwood Dalton, a former UFC fighter who becomes a bouncer. Daniela Melchior plays Ellie, while other notable actors like Billy Magnussen, Jessica Williams, Conor McGregor, Joaquim de Almeida, and more contribute to the film’s action-packed narrative.

And a fun fact is he's completely dialed into the TLC 90 Day Fiancé universe.

Who else stars in the remake?

A hyper-violent intimidation campaign promptly ensues with Dalton and his new brawling barroom buddies facing off against a rogue's gallery of small-time hoods to keep their dreams of booze-house glory alive. They're reportedly looking to lock up a major name to direct the "Road House" reboot as well, with "The Bourne Identity," and "Edge of Tomorrow" helmer, Doug Liman, eyeing the director's chair. Of course, with the film's shooting script still not up to snuff, and its behind-the-camera talent still taking shape, it's anybody's guess when the "Road House" reboot will actually shoot, let alone when it will be released. The original film was released in 1989, and proved a modest box office hit for Swayze (per Box Office Mojo).

Jake Gyllenhaal’s Guarding the Road House

road house release date

Judging by the trailer, Gyllenhaal appears to have gotten pretty ripped for the film. Road House can sometimes be so bad it's good, but more often, the uneven acting and ridiculous story are just disappointing.

Where to Watch

Despite the fact that Road House is expected to be one of Prime Video's most-watched films this year, there was a lot of drama behind the scenes of the movie. At the time, MGM was ready to start production in 2016, having already done other cult classic spinoffs, such as the Rocky spinoff Creed. Back in March of 2023, Gyllenhaal was seen filming scenes for the movie during a UFC 285 mixed martial arts event in Las Vegas.

Hannah Love Lanier Is ‘Road House’s Surprise Breakout Star

The final episode of shōgun will premiere tomorrow, tuesday, april 23 on both fx and hulu. Road House (2024) is an American action film directed by Doug Liman, reimagining the 1989 classic. It follows a former UFC fighter, played by Jake Gyllenhaal, who becomes a bouncer at a Florida Keys roadhouse, only to discover that the paradise hides dangerous secrets. Philip grew up in Louisiana (not New Orleans) before moving to St. Louis after graduating from Louisiana State University-Shreveport.

The movie had its world premiere at the 2024 edition of SXSW in Austin, Texas. Although the film will premiere at South by Southwest, this film will not be on the big screen. This seems to be a modern take on the original story, given that nearly 40 years have passed since the release of the original Road House. There are some similarities in the plot, such as the fact that Dalton ends up working at a roadhouse where things are not as they seem. Another key difference is that Dalton is now a former UFC fighter, not just a bouncer. Not much is known about the plot of the Road House remake, but there are a few key differences.

When he's not writing about movies or television, Philip can be found being chased by his three kids, telling his dogs to stop barking at the mailman, or chatting about professional wrestling to his wife. Writing gigs with school newspapers, multiple daily newspapers, and other varied job experiences led him to this point where he actually gets to write about movies, shows, wrestling, and documentaries (which is a huge win in his eyes). If the stars properly align, he will talk about For Love Of The Game being the best baseball movie of all time. If this is the first you are hearing about the Road House remake, or perhaps you read about it but thought it was too good to be true, stick around, because we’re about to break down everything we know about the upcoming reimagining.

When will the Road House reboot be released?

The original Road House famously saw Swayze’s James Dalton agree to leave his gig as a “cooler” at a New York City bar to take on a job as the head of security for a Jasper, Missouri bar with a bit of image problem. The remake, however, will leave the “Show Me State” and be set at a similar establishment down in the Florida Keys, according to Variety. Joining Gyllenhaal in his Florida Man transformation are Jessica Williams, Billy Magnussen, Daniela Melchior, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Lukas Gage, Arturo Castro, Dominique Columbus, and more.

And they deprive Jake Gyllenhaal — who gives a career-best performance — the opportunity to be recognized come award season. R. Lance Hill, who says he wrote the original script in 1986 on spec under the pseudonym David Lee Henry, the details of which are in dispute, could have ulterior motives for his lawsuit. Whether or not it has any merit, his desire is to keep the film from being released.

The club is tormented by a rough crowd and the crime syndicate that has a hold on the town, and at the same time, Dalton is tormented by his past of killing a man in self-defense by ripping out his throat. In the original Road House, Patrick Swayze plays the lead role of Dalton, a bouncer hired to take over security at the Double Deuce, a club in Jasper, Missouri. The project was eventually put on hold until November 2021, when it was revealed that Road House would return with a new cast that did not feature Ronda Rousey. Released on Jan. 25, the first trailer for “Road House” introduces viewers to Dalton, the former UFC fighter who has a tendency to get in brawls with multiple men.

Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry (Play Dirty and Doc Savage) wrote the script. The first trailer for “Road House,” a remake of the 1989 Patrick Swayze-starring action film, was released on Jan. 25, showing a buff and built Jake Gyllenhaal in the leading role. Road House is a 2024 American action film directed by Doug Liman, written by Anthony Bagarozzi and Chuck Mondry and produced by Joel Silver. It is a remake of the 1989 film of the same name and stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Daniela Melchior, Conor McGregor (in his feature film debut), J. As noted in that Deadline report, this is not the first time MGM has tried to reboot "Road House" for modern audiences. In fact, the studio was eyeing a gender-swapped version of the film a few years back as a vehicle for Olympic medalist, MMA champion, and professional wrestler Ronda Rousey. That version of the film never really took shape, however, and the current iteration looks to be a more straightforward remake of the original. While the film is likely a long ways from heading before cameras, it seems MGM is hot to get the production off the ground.

Now, it seems you can add another classic eighties flick to that list, as Deadline is reporting a remake of Patrick Swayze's deliciously sleazy actioner "Road House" is now in the works. The original cast was filled to the brim with ‘80s stars like Patrick Swayze, Kelly Lynch, Sam Elliott, and Keith David, as well as wrestler-turned-actor Terry Funk as one of Brad Wesley’s (Ben Gazzara) numerous henchmen. It hasn’t been revealed if any of the surviving actors from Rowdy Herrington’s action film will show up for the remake, but this new version of Road House has a cast that’s nothing to laugh at. No, not only because it’s the right thing to do, but because Gyllenhaal will star in the reimagined take on the rowdy and rustic film Road House for Prime Video.

Additionally, real-life UFC fighter Conor McGregor landed a role in the film, making his acting debut, according to Deadline. McGregor is currently facing a lawsuit in Ireland filed by a woman who alleges he raped her in 2018 and who was recently granted pretrial discovery, according to the Irish Examiner. Last year, Miami prosecutors chose not to pursue charges against McGregor over allegations he sexually assaulted a woman at an NBA game. While the original saw Swayze's professional bouncer take up a job in Missouri, Gyllenhaal's Dalton background is as an ex-UFC fighter who has seen better days.

Some of the most iconic ‘80s movies like Red Dawn, The Karate Kid, and Robocop have all received the remake treatment in the past decade or so, but one legendary, and badass action flick, 1989’s Road House, has never been remade. Well, that will soon change with the upcoming reimagining of the Patrick Swayze classic with Jake Gyllenhaal leading things.

It remains to be seen how much of that original plot the reboot might include, but if it stays true enough to the original concept, the new "Road House" flick will undoubtedly prove every bit as fun. At one point in the movie’s development process, Ronda Rousey was going to star in the lead role, but those talks eventually fizzled out and the movie sat on a shelf for a number of years before the current iteration began picking up steam. Though Rousey would go on to find tremendous success with WWE following the end of her UFC career, it’s a shame that the ass kicker, who is obsessed with Road House, never got her shot.

Jake Gyllenhaal

Fans of the original Road House know it starred the late Patrick Swayze as James Dalton, a bouncer hired at a roadside bar who was tasked with whipping the establishment into shape. Given the reputation of the bar, the crowd it usually attracted and the handful of less-than-adequate employees, the job proved not to be an easy feat. In the new reimagined Road House, Jake Gyllenhaal stars as ex-UFC fighter Dalton, and he seems to be a bouncer who’s a little more lethal with his hands and slightly more humorous.

Troubled former UFC middleweight fighter Elwood Dalton makes a living scamming fighters on the underground circuit. He is approached by Frankie, the owner of an unruly roadhouse in the Florida Keys community of Glass Key, who offers him a job as head bouncer. Initially hesitant, Dalton takes up the offer after narrowly averting a suicide attempt with a freight train that destroys his car.

However, that reboot was confirmed to be canned when rumors of the Gyllenhaal film first surfaced. Its been around 35 years, but fans of the cult classic road house are in for a treat its remake is releasing in 2024. Described as an “adrenaline-fueled reimagining" of the "cult classic,” “Road House” follows ex-UFC fighter Dalton (Gyllenhaal) after he takes a job as a bouncer at a Florida Keys roadhouse. However, once he’s there, he discovers that this paradise is not all it seems. With reboot, remake, and reimagining mania continuing to sweep Hollywood, studios are starting to make some perplexing choices about which past hits are being resurrected for fresh runs at the multiplex. And as it is, many of the more perplexing cinematic revisits announced surround possible fresh takes on (or sequels) to 1980s hits like "Labyrinth," "The Great Outdoors," and "Highlander," (per ET Canada).

Co-starring with Gyllenhaal are actors Daniela Melchior, Billy Magnussen, Jessica Williams, Joaquim de Almeida, Conor McGregor, Lukas Gage, Arturo Castro, B.K. Cannon, Beau Knapp, Darren Barnet, and Dominique Columbus. The reason why they decided to remake the 1989 cult classic remains unknown, but talks of the remake have been going on for nearly ten years. Besides a seemingly new plot and new location, the film has also been embroiled in drama in recent months, from casting choices to producers. The film appears to have some similarities with the Swayze, mainly Dalton being a fighting machine working at a roadhouse. Dalton is back to his fighting ways — and this time he’s causing havoc in a new location. But it is rendered with such obvious affection and steadfast devotion by Swayze and everyone involved (particularly the rarely better Sam Elliott), it's all but impossible not to be won over by its charms.

Along with the differences in the plot, there seems to be a much bigger cast in the remake. Rather than taking place in Missouri, this version of Road House takes place in the Florida Keys. In the film, Wesley continues to terrorize the town and Dalton until the very end, when Dalton seeks revenge for the life of his friend and takes out Wesley's henchmen.

What You Should Know, Road house is an upcoming american action film serving as a remake, or labeled as a reimagining, of the 1989 film of the same name. The mixed martial arts community had a lot more eyes on it in early March 2023, when Jake Gyllenhaal made a couple of appearances in the lead-up and during UFC 285 in Las Vegas to film scenes for the upcoming movie. The first took place the day before the event when the actor, in character, took part in a weigh-in, as seen in a video shared by the official ESPN MMA Twitter account. Back in November 2021, Deadline revealed that Jake Gyllenhaal would be stepping in as the lead, taking on a version of the role made famous by Swayze nearly 35 years ago. A little less than a year later, the outlet also reported that former UFC Champion Conor McGregor would be making his acting debut in the upcoming feature film, though his character’s identity has yet to be revealed.

He takes a bus to Frankie's establishment, called simply The Road House, and befriends Charlie, a teenager who runs a bookstore with her father, Stephen. As noted on IMDb, it may not matter in the end, as his attachment to the project is very much a rumor at present. Either way, we'll be quick to update this page the moment Gyllenhaal's, or any other actor's casting in "Road House," is confirmed. "We are thrilled to collaborate with this great cast led by Jake Gyllenhaal, and for them to come together to reimagine the classic MGM film as an action-packed adventure for our global audience." The 2024 Road House was directed by Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow, The Bourne Identity) based on a story by Anthony Bagarozzi (The Nice Guys), Charles Mondry, and David Lee Henry (the original Road House).
